Remota loves to go to the Bandi Desert because it reminds her of her home planet.  Other Midling Dragons, however, go there to polish their claws.  Dragons have found that walking on the desert sand on all fours (they really have fun doing this and often play a funny crawl-and-chase game) is the best way to get shiny, sharp, and attractive claws.  Remota cannot stand this loud, foolish playing in the hot, quiet desert.  It bothers Remota that Midling Dragons pay so much pointless attention to the appearance of their claws.  Should she say something to the other Midling Dragons?  What should she say?

1. “Hey guys, when you are done with your claw sharpening, give me a call.  I will be over there enjoying the desert rocks.  Maybe we can look for round pebbles together or go flying in the updrafts.”

4. Remota decides not to say anything but to fly off for a few minutes to calm herself down and figure out what she should do.  Flying around in circles particularly seems to help her think clearly.

Remota was watching and guiding some younger Dragons as they played Knightcastle, a board game (something like chess) that Dragons love to play.  An Elder came by and asked Remota if she would agree to be a Knightcastle Coach every afternoon for the next month.  The Elder offered to give her a fine collection of round pebbles as a reward for doing this job.  This job would be quite an honor for Remota and she loves round pebbles, but usually in the afternoons she spends time flying by herself, way high up in the sky, thinking about the faraway planet where she was born.  What should she do — give up her afternoons of peaceful flying for a month and be the Knightcastle coach or continue to fly by herself every afternoon?

1. Remota should ask the Elder if she could think about this and get back to him later in the day.  She needs time to calm her body down a little (she realizes she is awfully tense!) and think this situation through.

2. Remota feels her body getting tense and she begins breathing quickly, blowing wisps of smoke into the Elder’s face.  This decision makes her anxious and worried, and she wants to fly away, up into the sky where no one asks anything of her.

Remota flies to Bleakwood Forest sometimes to lie amongst the trees.  In the forest, Remota likes to think about boy Dragons but not any that she actually knows.  She daydreams about handsome and perfect Dragon princes from her home planet.  Her daydreams feel nice at first.  But then she feels sad.  She worries that she will never find a boy Dragon to be her mate in Ryuu.  What should she do?

1. Remota should make a list when she goes home of what makes a good prince and what makes a bad prince.  And she should stick to this list, no matter what.  She could even show this list to the boy Dragons of Ryuu when they ask her out Wingtipping (the Ryuu equivalent of dating).

This is a bit rigid, isn’t it?  Friends aren’t usually all good or all bad but somewhere in between.  Remota seems to be influenced by the Dark Force, Black & White as well as by Rigidity.  Try another answer.

2. Remota should make plans to run away to her old planet as soon as she can.  She will be happier, there, because there will be handsome boy Dragons everywhere and she won’t feel so lonely.

The Midling Dragons are having a picnic at the Bandi Desert to enjoy the blooming cactuses and the multitude of lizards, basking in the sun.  Xplotar is talking about one of his favorite subjects, “Who Has the Widest Wingspan in Ryuu Now and in the Past,” and he realizes that the other Dragons have wandered off or begun to talk amongst themselves instead of listening to him.  He begins to get frustrated and thinks about what to say.  Help him choose his words:

1. “Hey, guys.  What should we talk about now?  Or do you want to fly up to the clouds for a while to cool off?”

Xplotar is racing giant spiders with his friends and he loses the race.  His spider, Zandilly, usually uses all 8 legs to race and usually crosses the finish line first.  Today, however, Zandilly was running on only 6 legs.  The giant spiders of Ryuu can be very cranky, and when they are feeling this way, they raise a leg and refuse to use it.  It is bad when this happens during a race!  Xplotar is angry that he lost the race and angry with Zandilly.  Should he:

1. Tell his spider, Zandilly, that he never wants to see him again, tell his friends that he hates racing spiders anyway, and stomp off.

2. Take a deep breath or two.  Walk or fly away for a minute.  Then return to his friends and say, “Zandilly is just not in a racing mood, I guess.  I better just watch this next race and give him a rest.”

Flying in the forest and in the fog is great fun for the Midling Dragons of Ryuu.  They all love fog flying.  On this day, however, the fog is really, really dense.  They can hardly see a thing.  Xplotar is flying skillfully, dodging tall trees as he sees them and avoiding birds.  Suddenly, a Youngling Dragon who is trying this activity out for the first time, flies right into Xplotar, knocking them both to the ground.  Xplotar is really angry.  What should he do?

1. Xplotar should yell at the clumsy Youngling and even scare him with fire and smoke.  He should tell him that he needs to go home and never return to fog flying in the forest.  He should call him a lizard-brain.

Every Dragon thinks about saying and doing those things when they are angry, but most learn to stop and think before they act.  Then they decide, with the help of the Light Force, Releaser, to let the anger go.  Xplotar didn’t stop and think.  Try another answer.

2. Xplotar should shake himself off, say “Yiixel” (pronounced YEEKS-el, the Dragon word for Ouch), and return to flying.  It was an annoying moment but why let it spoil an afternoon of wonderful fog flying?

3. Xplotar should make the Youngling sit on the forest floor in Time Out and recite all of the rules of fog flying, again and again.  Xplotar should plan to tell the Youngling’s parents and the Forest Keeper about the Youngling’s careless and clumsy flying.
